finally, i'm free!

after two months of late night revisions, lack of sleep and coffee overdose, i'm finally free! the past two months were a complete nightmare for me. never in my life have i felt so unprepared for an exam. my first two papers were horrible. the people at the maths department went crazy and decided to set the toughest MA100 paper ever. that was the end of maths for me. i didn't have enough time to finish my econs paper, so i'm praying really hard i wouldn't fail.

abstract maths... sounds scary enough doesn't it? throughout the entire year, i grew white hair trying to understand what were homomorphisms, bijections, and the algebra of limits. and then just three days before the exam, my prayers were answered! god sent a jedi to save me from flunking my paper. a friend of mine was kind enough to help me with abstract maths, and after all these long suffering months, everything suddenly fell into place. it felt so good having those eureka/ "ahaa!" moments. so ironically, abstract maths wasn't as bad as maths or econs.

for now, i'm just really glad everything's over. for two months, i was living in zaman purba with fred and wilma where the greatest discovery of mankind was yet to come: MSN. okay so i deleted msn so i wouldn't get distracted by it and spend 10 hours a day playing solitaire showdown. (you wouldn't believe how addicted i was to it) and finally, i can now install my precious msn back on my laptop. welcome to the jetsons era!

last month, heng joon flew all the way to london from malaysia. he's here for an extremely long (and expensive) holiday before he goes on a tour around europe with his family.

heng joon adores Subway. partly because it was his first week in london and he did what everyone tends to do when they first arrive. convert. one day in london and he perfected his seven times table

besides subway, he loves museums. something you'd never expect coming from him, eh? but the museums in london are really interesting, compared to the ones back home. instead of hang tuah and parameswara, you'd get to see the real deal here. that's part of the Parthenon, all the way from athens.. i think

(don't you think the girl on the right looks really fascinated? either by the Parthenon or.. us)

the next day, we went to the natural history museum. jia pin was trying to prove that dragons did exist, so off we went on our hunt for dragons. as geeky as this is gonna seem, the museum was really educational.! they had all these dinosaurs exhibitions, mammals gallery, etc etc. bet you didn't know that there were 3 ways to differentiate an african elephant and an asian elephant. their trunk, their ears and the shape of their heads.

heng joon claimed you could tell the difference between a male african elephant and a male asian elephant by the size of their...

and there were other visits to the usual tourist attractions i've been to for at least 17319 times. that's the temple church, where they filmed the da vinci code.

and then a few days later, fabian came from ireland.!

fabian has the worse colour coordination ever. purple and lime green. (and he's not even colour blind.)

the weather in london can be really crazy at times, and i remember it being extremely cold when we were walking around london. that was at the tralfagar square. (remember, monopoly?) i'm not too sure why it's actually a tourist attraction. someone suggested it was probably for their pigeons

this was outside the national art gallery. they have really nice paintings in there, like the sunflower painting by vincent van gogh. apparently, the colours and techniques he used for his paintings expressed emotions in life bla bla, but the painting looked a lot like a.. sunflower to me.

and that's the london eye. malaysia has it's own 'eye on malaysia' now, but the london eye is twice the size of the one back home. still, uhh malaysia boleh

we took a nice and long walk after church across hyde park to get to baywater. duck rice at four seasons! the weather was surprisingly pleasant that day, so it was a lovely walk :) hyde park is HUGE! i heard it takes hours to complete a jog around the entire park. there were loads of people sun bathing in their bikinis as the sun was up. and there were spartan guys walking around. =D which pretty much explains why we had such a lovely walk through the park mmmm

what i like best in hyde park are their huge ponds! they have swans and ducks and other birds swimming around in it. and sometimes, the swans would come out of the water to prey on your krispy kremes.! it feels really relaxing and peaceful to sit around the pond, and i find it really sweet when couples lie in each other's arms :)

and of course, there were the countless duck rice for dinner. i think i've ate more duck rice in london than i've ever ate in my entire life. that night, we had a tiny DJ reunion dinner with fabian from ireland, joon from malaysia, gabriel from nottingham, samuel from imperial, chew ling from reading, and jia pin and i from lse.

everytime we talk about our high school days, i can't help laughing myself silly thinking about all those things we did as kids :) i know, i'm starting to sound like a granny!

okay i have to start packing, we're going to visit ben at the isle of wight for three days! hopefully mother nature would be really kind to us and provide us loads of bright sunny days where we can run around and play and get sunburns and pigmentations

=D
